Program Overview
In the 1990s, the Bulldogs had some outstanding performances that illustrate the excellence of
the Redlands track and field program. The most impressive performance was led by NCAA Qualifier
Ken Reed, who capped an amazing four-time All-SCIAC career by running away with the 1997 SCIAC individual
championship. Other strong showings of the decade include 1996 NCAA Qualifier Barry Dabbaghian and
the 1992 Bulldog squad. The team finished the season out with a national ranking of 20th. NCAA Qualifier
Toby Wagner and Academic All-American J.T. Vida are just two example student-athletes from this excellent
era. Currently, the Bulldogs look to build their team back up to the top of the SCIAC with commitment and
hard work.
2002 Season Summary

The men’s and women’s cross country teams were tough competitors all
year and their hard work and determination kept them competing
through a trying season. The men’s team simply could not attract
enough numbers to consistently score at their meets, but their team
members showed a lot of heart all season long. Senior David Young
(Grand Rapids, MI) will be missed, but junior Jason Doyle (Santa
Clarita, CA) and freshman Evan Baughfman (Torrance, CA) will be
ready to pick up the slack. Both Doyle and Baughfman were the
team’s most consistent finishers. The women’s team enjoyed a better
season, remaining a tough presence in conference competition.
Senior leader Caitlin Elliott (Napa, CA) earned Second Team
All-Conference honors on top of being the team’s strongest runner.
The team will lose her next season along with other seniors Liz
Creso (Tacoma, WA) and Erin Keepers (Apache Junction, AZ), however,
the team has plenty of talented underclassmen to lead the way.
Sophomore Samantha Clarke (Spokane, WA) had an injury-plagued
season, but look for her to return as a major threat next season
along with fellow sophomore Jill Varveris (Golden, CO). Both teams
should have what it takes to make a strong showing in conference
competition.
About Coach
Molly Enman
First-year cross country coach Molly Enman arrives in Redlands after
spending the past year in Park City, UT, where she trained in Nordic skiing
with hopes of making the Olympic team. In addition to her coaching
responsibilities, she will serve as the Assistant to the Director,
Student-Athlete Support Services, an intern position funded by the NCAA.
Prior to her stint in Park City, Enman worked as Assistant Cross
Country and Track Coach at Middlebury College in Vermont for four
years. While at Middlebury, Enman helped coach numerous
All-Americans and NCAA Division III Champions in cross country. She
is excited about bringing her national experience to the Bulldog
cross country program.
A 1997 graduate of Middlebury, Enman was a two-time Academic
All-American while completing her undergraduate degree in biology.
She also competed on the track and Nordic skiing teams for the
Panthers, earning All-American status in each sport. In the spring
of 1996, she took a semester at sea and sailed a 125-foot sailboat
from Key West, FL, to Woods Hole, MA, while studying marine biology,
nautical science, and maritime literature.
An avid runner, Enman looks forward to helping the Redlands
student-athletes improve their times and achieve their best. She
currently resides in Redlands.
