English Professor Ralph Angel has taken his new volume of poetry, "Twice Removed," on the road, with scheduled readings at 13 locations from January through May. He has visited universities and bookstores from Dallas to Oxford. Angel also has been appointed Poet in Residence at the Poet's House in Falzarragh, County Donegal, Ireland for two weeks in August.

Director of Latin American Studies Arturo Arias will spend spring break presenting at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Harvard University. At Harvard, he will give a presentation titled "Central American-Americans: Invisibility, Power and Representation in the U.S. Latino World."

Patricia Meyers, dean of the School of Business, is a member of the Blue Ribbon Committee on Accreditation Quality of AASCB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The committee is reviewing accreditation standards and procedures and will propose changes needed for global quality leadership in the next decade.

Professor of Chemistry Jodye Selco worked with a UC Davis research team to analyze the air pollution resulting from the Sept. 11 collapse of the World Trade Center. Selco spent 2001 collaborating with the UC Davis DELTA Group, one of the world's leading research organizations in analyzing the size, composition and movement of airborne particles.

Ed Wingenbach, assistant professor of government, received an award from the Journal of Politics for having the best paper published in the journal in 2000. The award is given by the Southern Political Science association.
