The School of Business's work to evaluate student learning in the Master of Arts in Management program is grabbing regional attention. Jim Spee, Don McCormick, Kristin Houser, Jeff Schieberl, Keith Roberts and Barry Last will present information on their efforts during a Western Organization and Management Teaching Conference being held at Chapman University in February.

Associate Professor of Economics Rafat Fazeli reviewed two books for the Winter 2002 issue of SIGNS, a journal of women in culture and society published by the University of Chicago Press. In January, she also presented her paper, "The Macro-Economy and Labor Market Institutions" at Allied Social Science Association meetings in Atlanta.

Hamid Falatoon, associate professor of management and business, had an article published in the December 2001 issue of the International Review of Economics and Business. The article was titled, "Announcement Effects, Herd Mentality, and Stock Market Volatility."

Alan J. DeWeerd, assistant professor of physics, wrote an article titled, "Interaction-Free Measurement" that is set to be published in the American Journal of Physics' March 2002 issue, which focuses on quantum mechanics. He also has been invited to present information from the article in June at a Gordon Research Conference at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts.

Economics Professor Christopher Niggle presented his paper, "Globalization, Neoliberalism and the Attack on Social Security" during a conference sponsored by the Center for Full Employment and Price Stability at the University of Missouri, Kansas City in November. The conference was devoted to the discussion of social security reform.

Jim Spickard, associate professor of sociology and anthropology, served as senior editor for the edited volume, "Personal Knowledge and Beyond: Reshaping the Ethnography of Religion," which is being published by NYU Press. He also contributed two chapters for the volume.
