Redlands Sustains

The Leadership

President Dr. Dorsey

President Dorsey became one of the charter signatories of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment when he signed onto the commitment that was formally adopted in June 2007.

In the commitment, presidents are pledging to eliminate their campus’ greenhouse gas emissions over time. It involves:

  • Completing an emission inventory
  • Within two years, setting a target date and interim milestones for becoming climate neutral
  • Taking immediate steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by choosing from a list of short-term actions
  • Integrating sustainability into the curriculum and making it part of the education experience
  • Making the action plan, inventory and progress reports publicly available

Alumnus Authors Guide to Sustainable Living

Redlands Alumnus Greg Horn, '87, shares his sustainability expertise in a new book: Living Green: A Practical Guide to Simple Sustainability.

The book explores ways that ordinary people can reduce their environmental footprint and live greener lives.

Horn's book was given to everyone who filled the Memorial Chapel to hear former vice president Al Gore speak about Global Warming in November, 2006.

"The university is committed to leadership in promoting environmentally responsible choices and sustainable economic progress."
