 Congratulations
Marilyn Stuart, payroll coordinator in Human Resources, and Jack Gower couldn't wait until their scheduled wedding date in July, so they tied the knot on April 7 in Las Vegas. They'll do it again in a formal ceremony in Seven Oaks Mountain Resort this summer.

Our Heartfelt Sympathy
The university's condolences go out to Associate Director of Alumni Relations Pat Kohlmeier and her family. Kohlmeier's son, Chris, was killed in a motorcycle accident April 16.

About 30 employees and at least 25 students participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life April 28-29. Team members took to the track for the 24-hour relay at Redlands East Valley High School raising more than $13,000 for cancer research and services for cancer patients and their families. The university's goal was $10,000, the amount raised last year. The event itself raised more than $65,000, surpassing the $30,000 goal.

 Relay (cont)
Deborah DeLeon in the Registrar's Office and Jackie Valcourt in Business Services with the help of folks in theatre, bookstore, audiovisual and athletics put together a campsite in the bulldog tradition. With the theme "Take a Bite Out of Cancer" and the theme song, "Who Let the Dogs Out," the kennel campsite was voted the best in the relay. There were doggie bone cookies by University Club Manager Susan Martinez and her kids and doggie bone hair clips by Gabrielle Gomez in Development. Even our costumed mascot showed up in support of the teams.
The teams send its thanks to the entire university community for financial and moral support.
Walking their shifts: Deborah DeLeon and Charlotte Lucey.

During opening lap: Anne Escherich, Jackie Valcourt as our mascot, John Ostler and Elaine and Zach Pahia.
