Condolences
Our thoughts and prayers go out to JulieAnn Fisher, assistant to the vice president for student life. JulieAnn's father, John Abels, passed away in July.
Congratulations
Tennis coach Geoffrey Roche married sports information director Rachel Johnson on Aug. 2 in a morning ceremony at the Dana Point Chart House. "It was a beautiful outdoor wedding, complete with an amazing view of the harbor," Rachel Roche wrote in an e-mail. Rachel's uncle, Mark Johnson, performed the ceremony, which also featured two other Redlands employees. Men's soccer coach Rob Becerra served as best man, and Amy Wilms of the Student Services department was a bridesmaid. Rachel and Geoffrey met while working at the university and dated nearly four years before tying the knot.
Gilbert (Gil) Orosco has been named the new associate director of public safety following a national search. Gil, a retired LAPD officer, has been with the department since 1998. During his law enforcement career, he has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, a court-certified drug expert, and an instructor in firearms, swarm-team takedown and domestic violence.
