September Happenings
Cheer on Bulldogs football at the first game of the season on Sept. 6, when Redlands will take on the Williamette Bearcats. Fans and students will also get their first look at Redlands' new mascot, Duke, a Bulldog puppy. Admission is free for Redlands faculty, staff and students who show their ID cards. General adult tickets are $5; tickets for children 12 and under are also free.
Join ASUR in kicking off the 2003-04 Convocation Series with a performance by the Global Rhythm Tour, Drum Circle, at 5:30 p.m., Sept. 8, in the Quad. The free event aims to build camaraderie among participants through a hands-on musical experience.
Spike Lee, one of Hollywood's most influential filmmakers, will be on campus Sept. 16 as part of The Bender Lecture on Human Values. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at Memorial Chapel. Tickets are $10 and are on sale now through Sept. 14 at the Campus Events office. The price will go up to $15 at the door; however, tickets are free to the first 500 students. For more information, call (909) 335-4046. The event is sponsored by ASUR.
Want to get in touch with your youth? Join students at the FallFest 2003 concert at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Greek Theater. The concert will feature the bands Thrice and Unwritten Law. (No clue who they are? Thrice, an Irvine-based band, is being billed as the new Blink 182 and was featured last month on the cover of SPIN magazine. Unwritten Law from San Diego has been around the music scene for many years. So, you know, it's time to get with it.) Faculty and staff tickets will be sold through TicketMaster for $20. The starting date for ticket sales has not yet been determined.
